Filter your drinking water to get rid of Aluminum but keep the beneficial silica

Drinking Water

Get out your money again - YIKES !!!  Remember 401 K plan for your brain.  You need to get a Brita water filter.

Yes our drinking water has aluminum in it.  The cement pipes and cement storage facilities all leach out aluminum !!!  In addition some municipal water is treated with Alum. If the PH of the water is kept correct there is no need to worry about the Alum.  How carefully is the PH level monitored. The clincher for me is water departments don't need to test the water for aluminum !!!!!!!!!

We have lived at our current location for 30 years.  We get our water from the Quabbin reservoir.  My husband is always 'crowing' about how we are so lucky to have such a good quality water source.  When the neighbor has her Poland Spring water delivered, he would say doesn't she know how good our water is?  Well doing research for this book got him singing a very different tune.  He found that tap water in Somerville which comes from Quabbin had more aluminum than water at the Quabbin Reservior.  How could this be !?!  Dennis then learned about cement pipes and storage facilities made of concrete.  This section in his book tells a very interesting story of water pipes being dug up on our street and touring a new water holding facility built up the street from us.

If you get your water from your town or city go to their website and see if your water is treated with Alum.  Some towns have this information readily available and for other towns I have had difficulty getting this information.

Excerpt from Dennis' book:

Filter your drinking water – Portland cement is used to make the mortar that lines most of the drinking water pipes in the U.S. Also alum is used to treat drinking water in many communities in the U.S. Both the mortar lining and alum treatment result in dissolved aluminum in the water. Therefore it is recommended to filter drinking water through a filter known to remove aluminum. There is only one filter that has been documented to remove aluminum and not silica from drinking water182). That filter is the Brita OB03 filter that is replaceable, good for filtering 40 gallons of water, and compatible with the following Brita pitchers: Brita Aqualux SMART Pitcher, Brita Atlantis Pitcher, Brita Bella Pitcher, Brita Chrome SMART Pitcher, Brita Classic Pitcher, Brita Deluxe Pitcher, Brita Everyday Pitcher, Brita Fjord SMART Pitcher, Brita Grand SMART Pitcher, Brita Marina Pitcher, Brita Riviera SMART Pitcher, Brita Slim Pitcher, Brita Space Saver Calendar Minder Pitcher, Brita UltraMax SMART Dispenser, and Brita Vintage Pitcher.
